Gail Porter and Marc Abraham in front of Brighton Palace Pier

Television presenter Gail Porter and celebrity vet Dr Marc Abraham OBE have joined Together Co as ambassadors, supporting our work in tackling loneliness and social isolation.

Both Gail and Marc are advocates for improving mental health and wellbeing and work tirelessly to promote these through their own campaigning, so we are delighted to have them as part of the team.

They have already generously donated their time to our #Paws2Connect campaign, which saw us partner with RSPCA Brighton to promote the benefits of connection and companionship between people and animals.

Togetherness

Gail is a television presenter and mental health advocate who has spoken openly about her own loneliness and depression.

She believes breaking the stigma around loneliness and social isolation is something we should all be talking about, and that reaching out and asking for help is the best thing you can do when you are feeling this way.

Gail said: “I am delighted to help to represent Together Co. It’s such an amazing charity bringing people and communities together.

“As a person that has experienced homelessness and loneliness, it is wonderful that Together Co are reaching out and helping to let others know that they are there for them.”

Pet therapy

Brighton-based Marc, or ‘Marc the Vet’ as he is commonly known, is a multi-award-winning veterinary surgeon, author, broadcaster and animal welfare campaigner.

He is very proud to be an ambassador for Together Co and believes that collectively we should do all we can to help alleviate loneliness and social isolation.

Marc said: “Loneliness can affect anyone, young or old but we can all do something to combat this.

“Promoting companionship by harnessing the power of pet therapy has been shown to be hugely beneficial, and this is something we are exploring at Together Co.”

As a person that has experienced homelessness and loneliness, it is wonderful that Together Co are reaching out and helping to let others know that they are there for them.
April Baker, Together Co CEO, said: “Gail and Marc have been working with us behind the scenes for a while, so we are thrilled that they have agreed to be ambassadors for our charity.

“Loneliness is a hidden epidemic which can be incredibly harmful to people’s physical and mental health.

“By talking about loneliness and social isolation, and breaking the stigma surrounding it, we hope to reach many more people in the Brighton and Hove community, as well as in other parts of the UK.

“We are so grateful to Gail and Marc for championing our cause and for the expertise they bring to Together Co.”
