To celebrate Volunteers Week, Together Co is launching it’s first ever three-year volunteering development strategy.

Over the last few months a group of trustees, staff members and volunteers have worked together to ensure that the charity offers the best volunteering opportunities and experience we can. To make this a reality, they’ve established five overarching goals and are excited to see the positive impact they will have.

In the 21 years that Together Co (formerly Impetus) has been in operation, our amazing volunteers have been fundamental in all we do to tackle isolation and loneliness in Brighton and Hove.

This has never been more evident than in April 2020 when we witnessed a 750% increase in people seeking befriending support. We were incredibly thankful that new volunteers also came forward in their hundreds.

As we emerge from lockdown in 2021, it is an opportune moment to reflect on the support we’ve had and how we can better understand how to nurture the dynamism of our volunteers to meet the changing needs of our community.

Our Volunteer Development Strategy outlines our approach. It sets out how we will strengthen our work with volunteers based on the feedback we’ve received. Our ambition is clear: to better engage and support volunteers so everyone single person who gives their time to us recognises how much we value their commitment and, in doing so, is part of our journey to end loneliness and isolation in Brighton and Hove.

Thank you to everyone who helped create this strategy and thank you to every one of our volunteers who make a huge difference in our city.
