I call [befriending] my little oasis! When the rush and hectic life that goes on outside all gets put on pause, and I can go and chat with a cup of tea and enjoy someone’s company for a little bit.

To celebrate Befriending Week, one of our volunteers, Thomas, spoke on the radio about his experience of befriending. He also talked about the project he has set up inspired by his volunteering — Memory Bar, borrowing memories from members of the community and transforming them into immersive installations. Exploring sound, smell and taste, Thomas aims to allow people to see the world through a snapshot of another person’s memory. For more info see Thomas’ website: Society of Cocktails.
