Volunteering role

Office Phone Support Volunteer

A friendly telephone call can make a big difference to someone who spends most of their time alone. As our office phone support volunteer, you’ll be that person on the other end of the phone that makes someone feel less alone.

Time required

Flexible but during normal office hours Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 10am – 4pm. We’d like you to be able to commit to a minimum of six months.

Key skills required

  • Reliable
  • Trustworthy
  • Personable and able to relate well to older people or people with physical disabilities
  • Sensitive to people’s needs and feelings
  • Able to use computers (particularly our CharityLog database – you’ll be given training on this)

As a phone support volunteer, you’ll work with our volunteer coordinators on a number of important jobs. These include contacting people who don’t have a regular visiting volunteer, helping with annual reviews of people who have a visiting volunteer, and helping to monitor the befriending service overall.
